Engineering New Design Skills

We are expanding our design capabilities to meet increasing demand for Mechan products.

Design engineer, Martin Allan, joins the team to develop bespoke equipment for specific sites and enhance our existing portfolio. Having worked for us initially as a contractor, Martin was offered a fulltime position to meet growing interest from the UK and overseas. His role encompasses all stages of design, from producing approval drawings to ensuring the end product meets your requirements.

Before joining Mechan, Martin held various industrial design positions after starting his career as an apprentice at a machine tooling firm. He worked most recently for Barnsley’s Qualter Hall and Co. on a project to aid the decommissioning of a UK nuclear power station. Martin said: “I have been involved in rail projects before, but this is the first time I have worked exclusively within the sector.

I am learning more about the market and our clients every day and I really enjoy the varied nature of my new role. Being part of such a close knit, professional team is very rewarding, particularly when I see my designs take shape in our manufacturing facility.”
